Healthy Aging Supplement Checklist

The supplement aisle is full of confident promises. A checklist helps you slow the decision down and separate useful convenience from marketing.

Define the problem first

Are you trying to increase protein intake, make meals easier, support a training routine, correct a diagnosed deficiency, or treat a medical symptom? Different problems require different tools.

Read the Supplement Facts panel

Look for ingredient amounts, serving size and hidden complexity. Proprietary language should not substitute for transparent dosing.

Match claims to evidence

Evidence that an ingredient participates in normal physiology does not automatically prove a branded product changes a meaningful health outcome.

Check interactions and contraindications

Health conditions and medicines can change whether a supplement is appropriate. Use a clinician or pharmacist when the decision involves real medical risk.

Calculate ongoing cost

A supplement that must be used every day can become a significant annual expense. Compare it with food-based and training-related alternatives.
